Jax is the Red Barn Feed and Pet "Pet of the Month" for March 2017!
I would like to introduce you to Jax. He is 4 1/2 years old, and a full breed Maltese. I got Jax at 5 months old while he was sitting in a cage at Pet Emporium in Burbank.
I looked, and looked for the right dog for my family, since I also have 4 kitties. I needed the perfect dog, that would get along with them, since they are all considered seniors, that I had rescued when each were babies. I tried to adopt, by going to pet adoptions, but wasn't finding my Jax, until I spotted him in a corner of the store! Immediately I knew he was the one! They let me take him out, and visit with him, I was in love! But didn't take him right away, because people close to me, kept saying that I had too many kitties, to include a dog. But I didn't want to listen, and couldn't stop thinking of the beautiful baby that I finally found. I went back two days later, and he was still there. We had an instant bond! He didn't want to go in anyone's arms, but mine. Kissing me all over the face ;)
My doctors were the ones who suggested for me to get a dog, because of my disabilities, I've found myself in some deep depression, and wouldn't leave my home. So Jax was instantly my companion animal, and is in training, to help me with my medication as well. He's a very smart, and special little guy, who loves his brothers, and sisters. And has helped me get some life back, and bring me smiles filled with joy.
One of my favorite things about Jax, is the smiles he brings to everyone around us. There's nothing like watching people light up, the moment they see him. Immediately I'm asked, if they can pet him. Which of course we oblige. Jax just loves the attention. And even though I do not have children, he is so happy around them, even just hearing their voice, he gets excited.
Jax also has a baby named Lulu (smallest little girl in the family photo), with his girlfriend Nowa, and her other pup Joey, from a different litter). She looks, and acts just like her daddy! And we were able to keep her in the family, by giving her to my cousin in Seattle.
Each morning I say, come say good morning to mom, and he comes right up, and gives me kisses, and lots of love, then of course he's ready to go outside :) He's the happiest dog I've ever seen! You would love him too!
